It Only Takes 3 Minutes

Do you remember playing games with a greased watermelon?  I do, and boy was that fun. Well . . .

I must not have closed Chloe & Claire's door well enough (it already has a child lock so Stella cannot go in and steal their pacifiers while they are asleep).  So while I was putting a load of laundry in Stella, Chloe & Claire found their way in the room, and closed the door. At this point you should shake your head & sigh uh-oh.  So when I went to find them 3 minutes later, Stella had gotten into the vaseline.  She decided that this would be an amazing opportunity to 'share' with her sisters, and they gratefully dove in.  I immediately placed them into the tub to be scrubbed.  That's when I was reminded of the greased watermelon.  Holding on to slimy arms & legs was NOT easy.  No matter how much I scrubbed . . . well let's just say that they will have a lovely shine for a few days.   Uhh, did I mention that Arturo has been gone all week - comes home tomorrow & I am VERY tired?

Wow - vaseline is sooooo greasy.
We did try to visit some folks this week, and we had some middle school girls over to hang out.  So that was nice, but I definitely got to work on maturing the fruits of the Spirit (love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness & self-control).  Every time Arturo is away & I am by myself with the kids, I have a renewed respect (and prayers) for single parents, military spouses, and really anyone who has to care for kids by themselves.  It is just HARD stuff. I am trying to maintain my children as my priority & everything else as the interruption - and not the reverse.  It is just not always easy.  I know that I am grateful for meals dropped off, an encouraging phone call, and a helpful visit.  So my challenge, for myself and you, is to be open & willing to help/encourage a single parent/guardian if the opportunity arises. I am sure it will be highly appreciated.  Plus, my girls are enjoying new playmates & friendly faces - and I'm sure they realize that it helps mom not be so cranky.  In fact, when a few days go by without a fun visit, that is all I hear about. When is_______ coming over.  Hopefully, today.

I am so sorry they got into the Vaseline. Does not look like a fun time... I do have to comment that it is kind of funny that you wrote this post. Jeff travels a lot so I am home wtih the 2 kids. (can't imagine 5) and it is very hard and tiring. I sympathize with you completely. I also think about single parents when he is gone.. you are right. We all need to help out others when we can especially those that only have one parent at home. There are no breaks!! Kids go to bed, your exhausted, and then you get to get up and do it all over again.

Oh my, I had a similar experience but it was with vicks vapor rub. They were pretending to be sick and proceeded to rub it, in clumps all over their bodies. That was a fun bath!!!

So funny. We had a party once with desitin. That was fun to wash. It was on everything and in the girls hair for days. I can only imagine how greasy vaseline would be.
